The South Dakota Coyotes and the UMKC Roos meet Friday in college basketball action from Swinney Recreation Center.
South Dakota enters this one at 4-6 so far. The Coyotes have won three straight games, taking out Mount Marty and Denver twice. As for UMKC, they’re sitting at 5-6 this year. The Roos are coming off a big win over North Dakota in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
South Dakota began the year on a five-game losing streak, falling to Colorado, Drake, Nebraska, North Dakota and ND State. Since then it’s been a 4-1 run for the Coyotes, however. During this three-game win streak they’ve taken out Mount Marty 84-44 and Denver 93-54 and 79-57.
In the Sunday win over Denver, South Dakota’s Stanley Umude posted 27 points with 11 rebounds and one assist. AJ Plitzuweit was also in double-figures for the Coyotes in that one, notching 19 points with five assists and four rebounds in 28 minutes on the floor.
Over on the Roos’ side, they fell to 2-4 after six games with losses to SEMO, Kansas State, Minnesota and Toledo. Since then it’s been two wins over KCC, losses to Saint Louis and North Dakota, and a win over the Fighting Hawks on Sunday 77-53.
In the win over North Dakota Sunday, the Roos’ top scorer was Josiah Allick with 23 points and six boards. Brandon McKissic added 17 points with eight rebounds and three assists, and Demarius Pitts had a nice game on 15 points and five rebounds in 34 minutes.
UMKC is 9-3-1 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 Friday games. The under is 5-2-1 in the Roos’ last eight overall and the over is 7-3 in their last 10 Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Coyotes are 5-16-1 ATS in their last 22 Friday games and 5-12 ATS in their last 17 road games. South Dakota is 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win and the over is 5-2 in their last seven overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with South Dakota in this one. The Roos have a good offense when they have a favorable matchup. They’ve notched some good totals like 98 points against KCC and 77 versus North Dakota. That said, UMKC is prone to bouts of futility as well. South Dakota has had three easy matchups in their last trio and comes into this one on a roll. I like the Coyotes to stay hot and bang out a cover here.
