The Long Beach State Beach and the CSU-Fullerton Titans meet in college basketball action from Titan Gym on Saturday night.
The Long Beach State Beach come into this one looking to build on their 82-80 win over the Titans in their last matchup. Isaiah Washington leads the Beach in scoring and assists with 17.3 PPG and 3.2 APG while also contributing 4.3 RPG this season. Michael Carter III, Chance Hunter and Joe Hampton each have 12.5 PPG this season to make up the group of four double-digit scorers for Long Beach State up to this point in the year, with Hunter grabbing a team-high 7.3 RPG to lead Long Beach state on the glass while Hampton has 7.3 RPG this season. As a team, Long Beach State is averaging 75.2 PPG on 42.9% shooting from the field, 39.3% from 3-point range and 70.7% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 87.5 PPG on 44.6% shooting from the field and 37.9% from 3-point range this season.
The CSU-Fullerton Titans will look to rebound from narrowly losing to the Beach on Friday. Wayne Arnold leads the Titans in scoring and assists with an average of 19 PPG with 4 APG as well as 4 RPG this season while Tray Maddox Jr. has 15.3 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Fullerton heading into the matchup with Long Beach State on Saturday. Josh Hall leads the Titans in rebounding with 9.3 RPG to go along with 7.7 PPG this season. As a team, CSU-Fullerton is averaging 74.5 PPG on 46.6% shooting from the field, 38.5% from 3-point range and 81.3% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 74.5 PPG on 44.6% shooting from the field and 35.7% from 3-point range this season.
Long Beach State is 1-11-1 ATS in their last 13 games following a win and 5-11-1 ATS in their last 17 road games while the over is 5-0 in their last 5 games overall. CSU-Fullerton is 7-21-1 ATS in their last 29 home games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall while the under is 7-3 in their last 10 games against a team with a losing record. The underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
This is a hard one to call as you could easily make the case for either side and the line represents that as it’s close to a pick ‘em. However, I still have concerns about Long Beach State’s defense, giving up 87.5 PPG this season, and the Beach are on this win one, lose one train and since the Beach won on Friday, I’ll take the Titans here as I think this “trend” of teams that lose/don’t cover the first game in a back-to-back bounce back in the second half continues here.
