The Seton Hall Pirates and the DePaul Blue Demons meet in college basketball action from Wintrust Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Seton Hall Pirates will look to bounce back after a humiliating 89-53 loss to Creighton last time out. Sandro Mamukelashvili leads the Pirates in scoring with 18.3 PPG while sitting 2nd in scoring with 6.8 RPG and 3.3 APG as well this season. Jared Rhoden is 2nd in scoring and tops in rebounding with 15.4 PPG and 7.2 RPG this season. Myles Cale is 11.7 PPG to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Seton Hall on the year so far while Shavar Reynolds Jr. has 7.8 PPG as well as a team-high 4.6 APG this season. As a team, Seton Hall is averaging 74.8 PPG on 45.4% shooting from the field, 33.7% from behind the 3-point line and 72.9% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 71.2 PPG on 43.8% shooting from the field and 36.6% from 3-point range this season.
The DePaul Blue Demons will look to bounce back after an 82-61 loss to UConn in their last outing. Charlie Moore leads the Blue Demons in scoring and assists with an average of 16.3 PPG and 5.3 APG while Javon Freeman-Liberty is 2nd in scoring with 13.7 PPG, 5.7 RPG and 4 APG this season. Romeo Weems has 13.5 PPG with 4 RPG while Darious Hall and Oscar Lopez Jr. each have 10 PPG with Hall logging a team-high 8 RPG while Lopez Jr. has 4 RPG and 3.5 APG this season. As a team, DePaul is averaging 80.7 PPG on 48.5% shooting from the field, 39.3% from behind the arc and 68.6% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 83 PPG on 42.9% shooting from the field and 31% from 3-point range this year.
Seton Hall is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games and 7-16 ATS in their last 23 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400 while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall. DePaul is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games while the over is 9-1 in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record and 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. The road team is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.
The points with DePaul are worth a look as the Blue Demons have been a decent cover team in their first couple of games of the season. However, I think the DePaul we saw against UConn is the DePaul we’re probably going to see over the course of conference play as more often than not, this is the part of the season when DePaul starts to falter. Seton Hall was humiliated by Creighton and the Pirates are a much better team than that performance would indicate. I think the Pirates bounce back with a convincing performance here and get the job done so I’ll lay the points with Seton Hall in this spot.
