Army comes into this one at 5-2 so far. The Knights are 2-1 in their last three games, with a loss to Colgate between wins over La Salle and Colgate. As for Holy Cross, they’re 1-1 this season. The Crusaders lost to Boston U in their opener but got revenge on Tuesday with a two-point win. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Army began their season with three straight wins, taking out Merchant Marine, Central Connecticut State and Buffalo. After that it was a loss to Florida, a win over La Salle and a loss to Colgate 101-57. On Sunday, Army managed a revenge win over Colgate 75-73.
In the Sunday victory, Army’s top scorer was Lonnie Grayson with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Tucker Blackwell added 12 points with one rebound and one assist in 14 minutes, and Jalen Rucker chipped in 11 points with seven assists and three boards.
Over on the Holy Cross side, they logged an 83-76 loss to Boston University in their first game. Leading the way for the Crusaders in that one was Austin Butler with 24 points, eight rebounds and one assist. Gerald Gates added 19 points with eight rebounds and one assist for Holy Cross, and Matt Faw managed 13 points with five rebounds in 27 minutes on the court.
Game two against Boston University went much better for the Crusaders, as they logged a 68-66 win. Gates was the top scorer in that one with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Butler posted 18 points with seven boards. Justin Martindale added 16 points as well.
Holy Cross is 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall and 5-13 ATS in their last 18 Saturday games. The Crusaders are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 home games and the under is 4-1 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Knights are 5-1 ATS in their last six overall and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games. Army is 9-3 ATS in their last 12 after an ATS win and the over is 9-3 in their last 12 road games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Army. I’m probably staying away from this one in reality though, as it’s hard to know what to make of Holy Cross just yet after two games and only one opponent. In any case, Army has had a few good offensive outings—69 or more in five of seven games. They’ve also had some duds though, like 57 points versus Colgate in a 44-point defeat. The Knights should match up better in this one, though; I like Army to pull away in the second half on the way to a cover.
