The North Florida Ospreys and the Jacksonville Dolphins meet Saturday in college basketball action from Swisher Gym.
North Florida enters this one at 2-9 so far. As for Jacksonville, they’re sitting at 9-4 this year. This will be a rematch of Friday’s matchup featuring these teams. In that one, Jacksonville pulled off a tight one-point win. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
North Florida began the year with a seven-game losing streak before finally notching a three-point win over FIU on December 12. Since then it’s been a loss to Flagler, a win over Edward Waters and Friday’s 66-65 loss to Jacksonville.
In the Friday loss, North Florida’s Carter Hendricksen logged 23 points with five rebounds and one assist. The only other Ospreys player in double-figures there was Jose Placer with 18 points, two rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Jacksonville side, they started the season on a nice run at 6-2 in their first eight games. The Dolphins took a loss to Miami, then another to Kansas State before rattling off two wins over Kennesaw State and Friday’s win over the Ospreys.
In the Friday win, Jacksonville’s Dontarius James notched 30 points with six rebounds and Kevin Nolan had 17 points. Bryce Workman notched a double-double on 10 points with 11 rebounds and one assist as well.
Jacksonville is 4-12-3 ATS in their last 19 home games and 4-0 ATS in the last four Saturday games. The over is 7-3-1 in the Dolphins’ last 11 home games and 8-3 in the last 11 as an underdog.
Meanwhile, the Ospreys are 33-14 ATS in their last 47 overall and 13-5 ATS in their last 18 Saturday games. North Florida is 20-6 ATS in the last 26 road games and the under is 4-1 in their last five road games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Jacksonville. This is bound to be another interesting game, though. Friday’s matchup was tight the whole way, and it took a big effort from a few of the Dolphins starters to sew up the win. I expect Jacksonville (and their bench) to play better in this one and bang out a cover.
