Incarnate Word began the year at 1-4 with losses to Rice, Wyoming, Texas State and Texas Tech. Since then it’s been three straight wins for the Cardinals, however. They’ve taken out McMurry twice and Northwestern State on Wednesday in their last trio.
In the 75-67 win over Northwestern State, Incarnate Word’s top scorer was Keaston Willis with 22 points, six assists and two rebounds. Brandon Swaby added 14 points with four boards, and Logan Bracamonte chipped in 11 points and two rebounds.
Over on the Privateers’ side, they lost three straight to BYU, Texas A&M and Louisiana before getting a win over Florida National. Since then it’s been six straight losses for New Orleans. Those came to Campbell, Jacksonville, Louisiana, Rice, Stephen F. Austin and Central AR.
In the Wednesday loss to the Bears 83-79, New Orleans’ top scorers were Damion Rosser with 20 points, 10 rebounds and three assists and Lamont Berzat with 20 points, three reoubnds and two assists.
The Privateers are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games and 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS win. The over is 10-3 in New Orleans’ last 13 Saturday games and 38-17-1 in their last 56 overall.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals are 6-2 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win and 4-0 ATS in their last four road games. Incarnate Word is 5-2 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and the over is 5-1 in their last six road games.
PICK: I’m sticking with Incarnate Word here. The Cardinals have notched a few good offensive outings this season, like 83 versus Wyoming and 92 over McMurry. That said, Incarnate Word has been pretty sketchy when it comes to defense in a lot of cases. The Privateers have a few good showings themselves this year and should be able to keep the pace for most of the game, but I like Incarnate Word to ultimately take control and cover.
