Norfolk State vs Morgan State College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/13/21

The Morgan State Bears and the Norfolk State Spartans meet Saturday in college basketball action from Norfolk Scope. 

Coming into this MEAC Tournament matchup, Morgan State sits at 14-8 so far. The Bears took out Coppin State in tourney action on Friday. As for Norfolk State, they’re sitting at 15-7 overall. Morgan State has done a solid job at staying consistent amid a handful of postponements and interruptions to the schedule this year, and they’ve only lost consecutive games once so far. The Bears have won their last pair versus Florida A&M and Coppin State. 

In the Friday tournament game versus Coppin State, Morgan State had a rough first half with a 36-27 deficit, but surged from there on an eventual 82-61 victory. Leadings the team was De’Torrion Ware with 29 points, 15 rebounds, four assists and two steals in a great outing. 

Over on the Norfolk State side, they had a choppy start at 4-4 this season, but hit a nice four-game win streak in January. The Spartans lost three of their next five, but have since won five straight and took out North Carolina Central in their most recent appearance Thursday. 

In the tourney win over North Carolina Central on Thursday, Norfolk State had a 44-33 lead at halftime and kept the pressure on from there in an 87-58 result. Leading the Spartans in scoring was Joe Bryant with 30 points, three rebounds and three assists. 

Norfolk State is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four neutral-site games and 3-8-1 ATS in their last 12 after an ATS win. The Spartans are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight Saturday games and 4-0 ATS in their last four overall. 

Meanwhile, the Bears are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 after an ATS win and 8-1 ATS in their last nine as an underdog. The under is 5-2-1 in Morgan State’s last eight Saturday games and the over is 9-4-1 in their last 14 overall. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Norfolk State. The Spartans are on a nice run lately, and they’ve been putting up some solid offensive efforts. Norfolk State has hit 68 or more points in each of their last five games, and they’ve been at 72 or more in four of those. If the Spartans can get into an early offensive rhythm here like they did on Thursday, I think they’ll be in great shape for a cover. This should be a really fun game to watch regardless.
