The Omaha Mavericks and the North Dakota State Bison meet in college basketball action from the Scheels Center on Saturday night.

The Omaha Mavericks will look to bounce back from a 2-11 start after a narrow 71-69 loss to the Bison on Friday. Marlon Ruffin leads the Mavericks in scoring with 13.3 PPG along with 3.3 RPG while Wanjang Tut is 2nd in scoring with 11 PPG and 4.6 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Omaha heading into Saturday’s rematch with the Bison. Matt Pile is almost Omaha’s 3rd double-digit scorer with 9.9 PPG while leading the Mavericks in rebounding with 8.4 RPG this year and Ayo Akinwole has 9 PPG and a team-high 2.7 APG this season. As a team, Omaha is averaging 64.9 PPG on 40.7% shooting from the field, 28.6% from 3-point range and 68.2% shooting from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 78.8 PPG on 46.5% shooting from the field and 38.7% shooting from the 3-point line this season.

The North Dakota State Bison will be out to build on their win over the Mavericks on Friday. Rocky Kreuser leads the Bison in scoring with 13.5 PPG along with 6.3 RPG while Tyree Eady has 12.1 PPG with 6.3 RPG as well this season. Sam Griesel has 11 PPG with a team-high 6.9 RPG and 3.5 APG and Maleeck Harden-Hayes has 10 PPG to make up the scoring in double figures for North Dakota State up to this point with Harden Hayes logging 4.8 RPG as well this year. As a team, North Dakota State is averaging 65.9 PPG on 42.8% shooting from the field, 33% from 3-point range and 74.7% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams are averaging 67.8 on 43.7% shooting from the field and 31.4% from 3-point range this season.

Omaha is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games overall while the over is 20-8 in their last 28 games following a loss. North Dakota State is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games overall while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games following a win. The favorite is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.

The Mavericks have started to play a bit better and hang around in games, but Omaha still isn’t a team I’m looking to back long term and it’s just not a strategy that’ll make you cash in the long run. North Dakota State has been profitable against the number, and while a good chunk of that came in the underdog role, the Bison are simply the better team here. I wouldn’t be surprised with a double-digit win here, but I’ll lay the points regardless.
