The Lehigh Mountain Hawks and the Navy Midshipmen meet Sunday in college basketball action from Navy Alumni Hall.
Lehigh enters this game at 1-2 so far. As for Navy, they’re sitting at 6-1 on the season. This will be a rematch of Saturday’s game featuring these teams. In that one, Navy managed an eight-point win. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Lehigh hasn’t been able to play much yet in the 2020-21 college basketball season. The Mountain Hawks began their year on January 2, bagging a 90-89 victory over Lafayette. In the rematch last Sunday against the Leopards, Lehigh took a tough loss 82-70 to drop to 1-1.
In Saturday’s game, Lehigh had trouble keeping up in a 69-61 loss to Navy. The Mountain Hawks’ top scorer in that one was Nic Lynch with 17 points, six rebounds and one assist. Also in double-figures for Lehigh was Jalin Sinclair with 14 points, five assists and one rebound.
Over on the Navy side, they began their year at 3-1 with wins over George Washington, Mount Saint Mary’s and Georgetown. After a month-long layoff, the Midshipmen got right back to work with consecutive wins over Bucknell 78-69 and 63-60 last weekend.
In Saturday’s victory, Navy held a 34-27 halftime lead and powered out the eight-point win the rest of the way. Leading the scoring was John Carter with 18 points and two rebounds. Richard Njoku, Cam Davis and Jaylen Walker each contributed 10 points apiece for the Midshipmen as well.
The Midshipmen are 4-1 ATS in their last five Sunday games and 5-0 ATS in their last five games overall. The over is 5-3 in Navy’s last eight overall and 7-4 in their last 11 home games.
Meanwhile, the Mountain Hawks are 0-5 ATS in their last five overall and 3-10 ATS in their last 13 road games. The over is 4-1 in Lehigh’s last five overall and the under is 6-2 in their last eight road games versus a team with a winning home record.
PICK: I’m going to take a shot on Lehigh here. The Mountain Hawks shot really well in the Saturday game, notching 56.3 percent on field goals. Lehigh only made three 3-pointers and four free throws however, and were out-rebounded 30-23 by Navy. The Midshipmen also had the edge in steals (12-5) and fouls (25-10), pulling away with 19-of-26 free throw shooting. This should be another good matchup, but I like the Mountain Hawks to notch a revenge cover.
