The USC Upstate Spartans and the Presbyterian Blue Hose meet Sunday in college basketball action from Templeton Physical Education Center.
USC Upstate is 3-9 this season. The Spartans are riding a three-game winning streak, taking out High Point and Longwood. As for Presbyterian, they’re 3-3 this year. The Hose are coming off a two-point victory over Radford in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
USC Upstate began their year on an epic skid. The losses came to Southern Wesleyan, Furman, Eastern Kentucky, GA Southern, Winthrop, UNC-Greensboro, Tennessee and High Point. Since then it’s been three straight wins over High Point and Longwood (twice).
In Tuesday’s 65-59 win over the Lancers, USC Upstate’s top scorer was Dalvin White with 20 points, four rebounds and three assists. Tommy Bruner added 18 points with four rebounds and two assists and Everette Hammond had 11 points with four assists and two boards.
Over on the Presbyterian side, they’ve notched a .500 record through six games. The losses came to Jacksonville, the Citadel and Radford. In the Blue Hose’s wins, they’ve taken out Carver, SC State and Radford.
In the December 31 win 65-63 over the Highlanders, Presbyterian’s Rayshon Harrison led the team on 13 points with five rebounds and two assists. Both Trevon Reddish and Brandon Younger added 12 points apiece, combining for 14 rebounds as well.
The Blue Hose are 6-0 ATS in their last six Sunday games and 1-5 ATS in their last six overall. The over is 18-7-1 in Presbyterian’s last 26 overall and 9-3-1 in their last 13 home games.
Meanwhile, the Spartans are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight Sunday games and 5-1 ATS in their last six overall. The under is 4-0 in USC Upstate’s last four road games and 5-1 in their last six overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with USC Upstate. The Spartans didn’t look all that great when they opened up the season on that ugly losing streak, but they were able to put up a fight in a few of those games and score well. USC Upstate isn’t a great scoring team normally, but neither is Presbyterian. The Hose have been at 65 points or below in four of their six games. This should be a good matchup but I like the Spartans to power out a cover.
