The USC Upstate Spartans and the Presbyterian Blue Hose meet Monday in college basketball action from Templeton Physical Education Center.

USC Upstate enters this one at 4-15 so far. The Spartans are 1-6 in the last seven games and coming off a loss to Campbell. As for Presbyterian, they’re 6-12 this year. The Hose are 1-3 in their last four and coming off a loss to Hampton. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

USC Upstate started out the year at 0-9 before getting a trio of wins over High Point and Longwood. After four more losses to Hampton and Radford, the Spartans beat Gardner-Webb and then fell to Campbell twice last week.

In the 64-49 loss to the Camels on Friday, USC Upstate’s Tommy Bruner and Dalvin White were the only team players in double-figures, each with 12 points and a combined four assists and four rebounds. Nevin Zink chipped in eight points with nine rebounds as well.

Over on the Presbyterian side, their year began at 3-3 before a string of losses to Campbell, Winthrop and High Point. The Hose went 2-1 over their next three games but have since gone 1-3 with losses to Gardner-Webb (twice) and Hampton.

In the 62-57 loss to Hampton, Presbyterian’s Winston Hill put up 16 points with nine rebounds and one assist. Rayshon Harrison added 15 points with five rebounds and four assists, and Owen McCormack put up six points with five boards.

The Blue Hose are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 6-0 ATS in their last six Monday games. Presbyterian is 5-0 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss and the under is 4-0-1 in their last five home games.

Meanwhile, the Spartans are 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 versus a team with a losing straight-up record. The under is 6-2 in USC Upstate’s last eight road games and 5-2 in their last seven Monday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with USC Upstate. There’s really not a lot to get excited about in this one, though; neither team is playing all that well lately. In any case, Presbyterian had a pretty good outing versus Hampton on Thursday (85 points) but otherwise hasn’t seen the 70-point mark often this season. The Spartans have had their scoring issues as well this year but have hit 71 or more in two of their last three. I like them slightly better on a cover.
