The Loyola Ramblers and the Indiana State Sycamores meet Monday in college basketball action from Hulman Center.
The Ramblers enter this one at 7-3 so far. As for Indiana State, they’re sitting at 4-6 on the year. This will be a rematch of Sunday’s game featuring these teams. In that one, the Sycamores managed a 76-71 comeback victory. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Loyola began the season on a nice three-game win streak before falling to Wisconsin and Richmond in succession. The Ramblers began another winning streak after that, moving into the new year with victories over St. Francis IL, Illinois State (twice) and North Texas.
In Sunday’s game, the Ramblers held a 35-27 lead over Indiana State at the break, but coughed up 49 points in the second half in a 76-71 loss. Leading the way for Loyola was Tom Welch with 18 points and three rebounds in 17 minutes. Cameron Krutwig added 11 points with six rebounds for the Ramblers.
Over on the Indiana State side, they began their season with a 3-2 mark, beating Truman, Ball State and Southeast Missouri State while otherwise falling to Purdue and Saint Louis. The Sycamores then hit a losing skid, falling twice in succession to both Drake and Missouri State.
In Sunday’s comeback win, Indiana State’s star was Tyreke Key with a whopping 31 points, 10 rebounds and two assists. Cobie Barnes added 13 points and four rebounds in 24 minutes for the Sycamores as well.
The Sycamores are 2-4 ATS in their last six home games and 1-5 ATS in the last six overall. The under is 21-7 in Indiana Stte’s last 28 overall and 5-0 in the last five Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Ramblers are 5-3 ATS in their last eight games overall and 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 Monday games. The over is 14-3 in Loyola’s last 17 overall and 6-0 in their last six road games.
PICK: I’m going to take Loyola here. The Ramblers have posted some nice offensive numbers in several outings this year, and hit 73 or more points in seven of their first nine games. In Sunday’s matchup, Loyola had a bad second half despite edging the Sycamores in rebounds (33-31) and assists (17-11). I think the Ramblers will bounce back with a stronger effort in this one. A few adjustments will make this a completely different game, and it should be another fun one to watch.
