Alabama State enters this one at 0-3 so far. The Hornets are coming off a loss to AR-Pine Bluff on Saturday. As for Mississippi Valley State, they’re 0-9 this year. Alabama State began the year with a 66-49 loss to Grambling State, posting just 20 points in the first half. Game two was another loss, this time 60-44 to Jackson State. In the Hornets’ last appearance on Saturday, they posted a better offensive outing but still lost to AR-Pine Bluff.
In the 91-82 loss to the Golden Lions, Alabama State’s top scorer was Kenny Strawbridge on 18 points, 10 rebounds and one assist. LaTrell Tate added 17 points with two assists, and Brandon Battle chipped in 11 points, one rebound and one assist in 19 minutes.
Over on the Mississippi Valley State side, it’s been a season of futility so far. The Devils kicked off with losses to Arkansas, North Texas, Wyoming, Grand Canyon, Western Kentucky, Memphis, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State. MS Valley took another loss to AR-Pine Bluff in their last game January 2.
In their loss to the Golden Lions, Mississippi Valley State’s Devin Gordon led the team with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists. Quoiren Walden added 12 points with five rebounds, and both Treylan Smith and Caleb Hunter chipped in seven points with four rebounds apiece.
The Devils are 0-4 ATS in their last four Monday games and 3-7 ATS in the last 10 home games. MS Valley State is 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall and the under is 4-0 in their last four overall.

PICK: I’m going to take a shot on Alabama State here. The good news in this matchup is that someone will get a victory—it should be a fairly competitive game also. Neither of these teams has scored very well this season, and they’ve both surrendered some sizable points totals on the other side. I like this one to be a higher-scoring affair, and I like Alabama State’s offense a little bit better on a cover.
