The Kent State Golden Flashes and the Central Michigan Chippewas meet Tuesday in college basketball action from McGuirk Arena.

The Flashes enter this one at 4-3 so far. Kent State had lost consecutive games before winning their last outing over Western Michigan. As for Central Michigan, they’re 5-4 this year. The Chippewas are coming off consecutive losses to Bowling Green. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Kent State opened up the season at 3-1, with a loss to Virginia and wins over Point Park, Detroit and Northern Kentucky. Since then the Golden Flashes have lost two games to Akron and Toledo before getting a win 80-54 over Western Michigan in their last game.

In the win over the Broncos, Kent State’s Mike Nuga led the team own 26 points with five rebounds and one assist. Giovanni Santiago added 13 points with three assists and one rebound, and Justyn Hamilton had 10 points with nine boards and two assists.

Over on the Central Michigan side, they began their year with three straight losses before clawing back to .500 with wins over Western Illinois, Valparaiso and St. Francis. Since then the Chippewas are 2-3, with losses to Western Michigan and Bowling Green (twice).

In Saturday’s 93-65 blowout loss to Bowling Green, Central Michigan’s Travon Broadway led the team with 19 points, eight rebounds and two assists. Meikkel Murray added 14 points and four rebounds, and both Caleb Huffman and Caleb Hodgson chipped in 10 points apiece.

Central Michigan is 5-11-3 ATS in the last 19 games overall and 1-6 ATS in their last seven games as a favorite. The over is 4-0 in the Chippewas’ last four home games and 4-1 in their last five Tuesday games.

Meanwhile, the Flashes are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. The over is 7-3 in Kent State’s last 10 overall and 4-1 in the last five after a straight-up win.

PICK: I’m going to take Kent State here. This should be a pretty entertaining matchup, though. The Chippewas came up short against a good Bowling Green team in their last two outings, but generally they’ve been scoring pretty well this season. Kent State has hit some nice offensive numbers themselves, with a combined 164 points in their last two games. This should be a higher-scoring affair, and I like the Flashes to eke out a cover.
