The Wisconsin Badgers and the Michigan Wolverines meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Crisler Center.
Wisconsin enters this one at 10-2 overall. The Badgers have won consecutive games over Minnesota and Wisconsin in their last pair. As for the Wolverines, they’re rolling along at 10-0 this year. The Wolverines have beaten Northwestern and Minnesota in their last two games. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Wisconsin began their season with a 3-0 run before falling in a tough one to Marquette in early December. After that came five more wins before another difficult loss, this time 70-64 versus Maryland. Since then the Badgers have gotten back on track, taking out Minnesota and Indiana in their last two.
In the 80-73 double-overtime win over the Hoosiers, Wisconsin’s D’Mitrik Trice led the team on 21 points with seven assists and three rebounds. Nathan Reuvers added 14 points with six rebounds and three assists, and Tyler Wahl had 12 points with two rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Michigan side, it’s been smooth sailing so far with their undefeated record. The Wolverines took out Bowling Green, Oakland, Ball State, UCF, Toledo, Penn State, Nebraska and Maryland through December. In this new calendar year it’s been wins over Northwestern and Minnesota for the Wolverines.
In the 82-57 blowout win over Minnesota, Michigan’s top scorer was Hunter Dickinson with 28 points and eight rebounds. Isaiah Livers added 14 points with seven rebounds and three assists, and Franz Wagner chipped in 12 points, five rebounds and four assists for the Wolverines.
The Wolverines are 5-1 ATS in their last six home games and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. Michigan is 5-1 ATS in their last six as a home favorite and the under is 5-1-1 in their last seven versus a team with a winning straight-up record.
Meanwhile, the Badgers are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six as an underdog. Wisconsin is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five as a road underdog and the over is 6-2 in their last eight overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Michigan. The Wolverines had no issues with Minnesota in their last game, notching 50 points in the second half along with 56.9 percent shooting from the field, 40 rebounds and 17 assists. As for Wisconsin, they’ve done pretty well in their last two games but needed two overtimes to dispatch the pesky Hoosiers after their second-half comeback. This one should be a very interesting matchup, and I like Michigan to make a statement on the national stage here.
