The TCU Horned Frogs and the Oklahoma Sooners meet in college basketball action from the Lloyd Noble Center on Tuesday night.
The TCU Horned Frogs will look to bounce back after a 67-49 loss to Baylor in their last matchup, falling to 9-4 on the year. RJ Nembhard leads the Horned Frogs in scoring and assists with 17.8 PPG and 4.3 APG along with 4.3 RPG while Mike Miles has 13.4 PPG with 3.4 APG to make up the duo of double-digit scorers for TCU heading into Tuesday’s matchup alongside Nembhard. Kevin Samuel also has 9.7 PPG while leading the Horned Frogs on the glass with 9.5 RPG this season. As a team, TCU is averaging 69.4 PPG on 45.9% shooting from the field, 35.4% from 3-point range and 64.7% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 68.1 PPG on 43.5% shooting from the field and 29.3% from 3-point range this season.
The Oklahoma Sooners will be out to rebound from a 63-59 loss to Kansas in their last matchup. Austin Reaves leads the Sooners in scoring, rebounding and assists with 16.3 PPG, 5.6 RPG and 5.1 APG while Brady Manek is 2nd in scoring with 13.4 PPG along with 4.4 RPG this season. De’Vion Harmon has 10.6 PPG with 2.5 RPG and 2.1 APG this season to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Oklahoma up to this point in the season. As a team, Oklahoma is averaging 77.4 PPG on 44.6% shooting from the field, 33.2% from 3-point range and 78.6% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 70.6 PPG on 42.5% shooting from the field and 39% from 3-point range this season.
TCU is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record. Oklahoma is 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a loss and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall. The underdog is 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams.
I get Oklahoma being favored at home for this game, as they’re coming off of that narrow loss to Kansas, the same Kansas team that beat up TCU by 29 a week ago. However, this is a lot to give up to an Oklahoma team that could be without one of their best players in Brady Manek and even if Manek is good to go, I’m not sure he’ll be 100% and that won’t cut it against a healthy Kevin Samuel on the other side for TCU that can make life difficult on the inside for the Sooners. TCU’s also performed well in a decent sample size on the road, so I’ll take a shot with TCU and the points in this one.
