The Butler Bulldogs and the St. John’s Red Storm meet in college basketball action from Carnesecca Arena on Tuesday night.

Aaron Thompson leads Butler in scoring and assists with 14.3 PPG and 4.5 APG while Jair Bolden is 2nd in scoring with 13 PPG and 4.1 RPG and Chuck Harris has 11.1 PPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Butler heading into Tuesday’s matchup with St. John’s. Bryce Nze also has 9.9 PPG and a team-high 6.7 RPG for the Bulldogs and Bryce Golden has 9.9 PPG of his own with 5.3 RPG this season. As a team, Butler is averaging 63.7 PPG on 42.3% shooting from the field, 36% from behind the 3-point line and 61.8% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 69 PPG on 46.9% shooting from the field and 39.2% from 3-point range this season.

Butler is 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit home loss while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games following a loss. St. John’s is 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 8-21-1 ATS in their last 30 Tuesday games while the over is 7-0 in their last 7 games following a loss. The home team is 10-1 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these two teams and the favorite is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings between these two teams as well.

These are two teams that I’m truthfully not looking to back long-term, but for tonight I think I’ll have to back St. John’s. Butler’s been brutal on the road this season, going 0-3 straight up and 1-2 ATS and this line is low enough that if you take the free bucket, you’re pretty much expecting Butler to win on the road and I just don’t see it. I think St. John’s has enough talent and I expect Champagnie to dominate inside and get the Johnnies a much-needed win and cover in this one.
