The NC State Wolfpack and the Florida State Seminoles meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Donald L. Tucker Center.
NC State enters this one at 6-4 so far. The Wolfpack have lost consecutive games to Clemson and Miami. As for Florida State, they’re sitting at 5-2 this year. The Seminoles are 1-2 in their last three games with losses to UCF and Clemson. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
NC State opened up the year with three straight wins, then lost to a tough St. Louis team. Three wins followed for the Wolfpack as they took out Campbell, North Carolina and Boston College. Since then it’s been a pair of losses 74-70 to Clemson and 64-59 to Miami.
In the loss to the Hurricanes on Saturday, NC State’s top scorer was Thomas Allen with 14 points, three rebounds and one assist. Derek Funderburk doubled up on 12 points with 11 boards, and Devon Daniels had 11 points with three assists and four boards.
Over on the Florida State side, they kicked off their year with four straight wins, taking out North Florida, Indiana, Florida and Georgia Tech. Since then it’s been a 1-2 run for the Seminoles. They were able to take out Gardner-Webb but otherwise fell to UCF and Clemson in that stretch.
In the 77-67 loss to Clemson on December 29, Florida State’s top scorer was Scottie Barnes with 14 points, five assists and four rebounds. MJ Walker added 11 points with three rebounds and three assists, while both Rayquan Evans and Wyatt Wilkes chipped in nine points apiece.
The Seminoles are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 Wednesday games and the over is 7-3-1 in their last 11 home games. The over is 3-1-1 in Florida State’s last five overall and the under is 4-0 in their last four Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Wolfpack are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games overall and 7-1 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games. The over is 4-0 in NC State’s last four road games and 4-1 in their last five Wednesday games.
PICK: I’m sticking with NC State in this one. The Wolfpack have been pretty consistent on offense this year overall, logging 69 or more points in each of their first eight outings. NC State shot just 37.9 percent from the field in their last game and lost despite out-rebounding Miami 38-30. Florida State has some great scorers themselves and this should be a fun matchup, but I like the Wolfpack to keep the pace and cover here.
