The DePaul Blue Demons and the Georgetown Hoyas meet Wednesday in college basketball action from McDonough Arena.
The Blue Demons enter this game at 1-4 so far. DePaul has lost four straight and they’re coming off a seven-point defeat by UConn. As for Georgetown, they’re 3-8 this year. The Hoyas have lost five in a row, most recently to Syracuse on Saturday. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
DePaul opened up their year with a 91-72 win over Western Illinois, but they’re yet to taste victory again this season so far. During this four-game losing streak, the Blue Demons have lost to Providence 95-90, UConn 82-61, Seton Hall 76-68 and UConn again 60-53.
In Monday’s loss, DePaul’s only double-digit scorer was Darious Hall with 10 points, three rebounds and one assist. Charlie Moore added nine points with four rebounds and three assists while Javon Freeman and Nick Ongenda each chipped in eight points and seven boards.
Over on the Georgetown side, they started out their year at 2-2 with wins over UMBC and Coppin State. After a loss to Villanova and a win over St. John’s, the Hoyas lost their next five games. Those defeats came by St. John’s, Seton Hall, Marquette, Butler and Syracuse.
In the 74-69 loss to the Orange on Saturday, Georgetown’s top scorer was Jamorko Pickett with 17 points, nine rebounds and one assist. Jahvon Blair added 16 points with 10 assists and four rebounds, and Donald Carey chipped in 10 points with three assists and two boards.
Georgetown is 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win. The Hoyas are 5-2 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up loss and the under is 4-0 in their last four overall.
Meanwhile, the Demons are 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 after a straight-up loss. The over is 6-2 in DePaul’s last eight road games and the under is 5-1 in their last six after an ATS loss.
PICK: I’m going with Georgetown here. Both these teams need a victory and a good showing doing it, though. The Hoyas haven’t hit 70 points in any of their last four games, but they’ve stayed reasonably close to the pace in their last trio (defeats by eight or fewer in each). As for DePaul, they haven’t scored more than 68 points in any of their last three games, losing all of them by seven or more. This should be a good matchup but I like the Hoyas offense a little better on a cover.
