The Washington Huskies and the USC Trojans meet in college basketball action from the Galen Center on Thursday night.
The Washington Huskies will look to bounce back after an 84-78 loss to Cal last time out to fall to 1-9 on the year. Quade Green leads Washington in scoring and assists with 15.5 PPG and 3.2 APG as the lone double-digit scorer for Washington coming into this matchup while Nate Roberts leads Washington on the glass with a team-high 7.3 RPG and Jamal Bey is 2nd in scoring with 7.3 PPG this season. As a team, Washington is averaging 63.3 PPG on 39.4% shooting from the field, 26.7% from behind the arc and 72.9% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 74.7 PPG on 43.3% shooting from the field and 33.8% from 3-point range this season.
The USC Trojans will look to build on their 9-2 mark after a 67-62 win over the UC-Riverside in their last time out. Evan Mobley leads the Trojans in scoring and rebounding with 16.2 PPG and 9 RPG while Tahj Eaddy is 2nd in scoring with 12.5 PPG and 2.9 APG this season. Drew Peterson has 10.4 PPG to go along with a team-high 3.8 APG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for USC coming into this game. Isaiah Mobley has 9.7 PPG with 8 RPG while Ethan Anderson has 6.7 PPG and 3 APG this season. As a team, USC is averaging 76.2 PPG on 47.3% shooting from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range and 65.4% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 63.5 PPG on 36% shooting from the field and 30.9% from 3-point range this season.
Washington is 5-18 ATS in their last 23 road games and 5-17 ATS in their last 22 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 games following an ATS loss. USC is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Thursday games while the under is 37-15 in their last 52 home games. The favorite is 21-9 ATS in the last 30 meetings between these two teams.
We’re starting to see the Huskies getting these large numbers of points and they’re somewhat tempting as this is a Washington team that did cover against Oregon earlier this season and almost won that game outright. However, the Huskies have regressed back to normal, failing to cover in 5 straight and getting beat down in a lot of those games. I just don’t see Washington having enough to contend with the Trojans in this one, so I’ll lay the points with USC in this spot.
