Texas State enters this one at 7-4 overall. The Bobcats are coming off a 12-point win over Louisiana in their last game. As for Little Rock, they’re 7-4 this season. The Trojans beat Louisiana in their last outing as well, this time by two points. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Texas State opened up their year with a nice 3-1 run before losing consecutive games to Texas and Our Lady of the Lake. The Bobcats then took out Texas A&M-CC, Denver and Northern Arizona before splitting a pair of games with Louisiana 83-77 (loss) and 71-59 (win).
In the January 2 win over Louisiana, Texas State’s Isiah Small put up 18 points with four rebounds and one assist. Caleb Ashberry chipped in 12 points with four boards, and Mason Harrell finished with 10 points, two assists and four rebounds in 38 minutes of action.
Over on the Little Rock side, their season started at 2-2 before consecutive wins over Central AR and Champion. The Trojans then lost to Missouri State and took out TX-Arlington twice. Since then it’s been a split with Louisiana 66-64 (loss) and 78-76 (win).
In Saturday’s victory over the Cajuns, Little Rock’s leading contributor was Ruot Monyyong with 19 points, 16 rebounds and two assists. Isaiah Palermo put up 17 points with five boards, and Markquis Nowell managed 15 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Trojans.
Little Rock is 2-6 ATS in their last eight Friday games and 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall. The over is 22-6 in the Trojans’ last 28 overall and 14-3 in their last 17 home games.
Meanwhile, the Bobcats are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six Friday games. Texas State is 1-7 ATS in their last eight games overall and the over is 4-0-1 in their last five Friday games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Little Rock. The Trojans have been putting up some nice scoring efforts this season, notching 70 or more points in 10 of their 11 appearances so far. Little Rock is 3-1 in their last four, with a two-point loss to Louisiana as the only blemish. Texas State can score pretty well themselves this year, so this should be a good matchup. I think the Trojans can power out a cover, though.
