The Siena Saints and the Rider Broncos meet Friday in college basketball action from Rider University Alumni Gym.
Siena is 4-0 so far this year. The Saints are coming off a seven-point win over Fairfield on Sunday. As for Rider, they’re 3-8 this season so far. The Broncos split two games with Niagara in their last pair of outings. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Siena had a little trouble getting their season started, but once the calendar year flipped they were able to begin playing games. The Saints have been perfect so far, taking out Monmouth 78-77 and 76-62, then beating Fairfield by margins of 74-58 and 75-68.
In Sunday’s win over the Stags, Siena’s Aidan Carpenter led the team on 19 points with one rebound and one assist. Jordan King added 18 points and two boards, while Manny Camper doubled up on 17 points, 12 rebounds and six assists in 37 minutes on the floor.
Over on the Broncos’ side, they started their year at 1-2, then hit a four-game losing skid versus Manhattan, Iona (twice) and NJIT. Since then it’s been a 2-2 stretch for Rider; they’ve played a pair versos both Fairfield and Niagara, winning one of each.
In Saturday’s 66-55 loss to Niagara, Rider’s leading scorer was Dwight Murray with 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson put up a double-double on 10 points and 10 assists, and Jeremiah Pope had 10 points with two rebounds and one assist.
Rider is 4-1-1 ATS in their last six Friday games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight games overall. The under is 10-1 in the Broncos’ last 11 home games and 10-3 in the last 13 Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Saints are 4-11 ATS in their last 15 road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six Friday games. Siena is 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall and the over is 4-1 in their last five road games.
PICK: I’m going to take Siena here. Rider had one bad half in the Niagara games, coughing up 43 points in the 66-55 loss on Saturday. Aside from that the Broncos have been hit and miss, but generally they’re not scoring well. We’ve only seen the Saints against a couple of opponents so far, but they’ve turned in some nice offensive efforts. I like Siena to keep it going and cover in this one.
