The Utah Valley Wolverines and the Seattle Redhawks meet Friday in college basketball action from Connolly Center.
Utah Valley enters this one at 4-5 so far. The Wolverines have won consecutive games over California Baptist in their last pair. As for Seattle, they’re 7-5 this year. The Redhawks have won consecutive games versus Portland and St. Martin’s. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Utah Valley began the year at 2-1 with wins over Adams State and Westminster UT, but then fell into a four-game losing streak. Those defeats came courtesy of Southern Utah, Wyoming, Utah and Weber State. Since then it’s been a pair of victories 77-50 and 81-77 over California Baptist.
In Saturday’s win over the Lancers, Utah Valley’s Fardaws Aimaq led the way on 23 points with 16 rebounds and two assists. Both Trey Woodbury and Jamison Overton notched 15 points apiece, and Evan Cole doubled up on 14 points and 11 boards with four assists.
Over on the Redhawks’ side, they kicked off their season at 3-0 before a four-game slide versus CSUN, UCLA, Long Beach State and Washington. Seattle then beat Northwest WA and College of Idaho before falling to California, then beating Portland and St. Martin’s.
In the 98-63 win over St. Martin’s on Saturday, Seattle’s Riley Grigsby put up 24 points with six rebounds in 31 minutes on the floor. Darrion Trammell added 17 points with seven assists, and Emeka Udenyi put up a double-double on 11 points, 11 rebounds and six assists.
Seattle is 6-2 ATS in their last eight home games and 5-1 ATS in their last six after a straight-up win. The over is 5-2 in the Redhawks’ last seven Friday games and 13-6 in the last 19 overall.
Meanwhile, the Wolverines are 6-13 ATS in their last nine after an ATS loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win. The under is 4-0 in Utah Valley’s last four road games and 6-1 in their last seven Friday games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Seattle here. The Redhawks have notched a few dud games this year, but they’re looking pretty decent in their last five games. In that stretch, Seattle has just the one loss to California, and they were within five points (70-65). The Redhawks have hit 78 or more points in four of their last five game as well. I like this to be a relatively higher-scoring matchup, with Seattle pulling out a late cover.
