Cal State Bakersfield began the year at just 1-2 but then rattled off wins over Idaho and St. Katherine. The Roadrunners then went 1-2 in their next three with losses to Stanford and LBSU. Cal State Bakersfield beat the Beach in the rematch, then dispatched Cal Poly in their latest pair.
In Saturday’s 67-50 win over the Mustangs, Cal State Bakersfield’s top scorer was Taze Moore on 18 points with four assists and seven rebounds. De’Monte Buckingham added 13 points with three assists and seven boards, and Justin Davis had 12 points with six rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Hawaii side, they’ve only been able to play four games so far but have won three of them. The Warriors began the year with three straight wins, taking out Hawaii Pacific 83-50, Hawaii-Hilo 89-66 and UC Riverside 88-83. Hawaii fell to the Highlanders in the rematch on Saturday, however.
In the 70-68 loss to UC Riverside, Hawaii’s Casdon Jardine was the only team player to finish in double-figures with 26 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Junior Madut was able to pitch in nine points with three boards and two assists.
The over is 5-2-1 in Hawaii’s last eight Friday games and the under is 4-0 in their last four home games. The Warriors are 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Roadrunners are 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 Friday games and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine after a straight-up win. CSUB is 4-1-1 ATS in their last six overall and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win.
PICK: I’m going to take a shot on Hawaii. The Roadrunners had been on a pretty good scoring clip until their last two games. They’ve notched a relatively paltry 129 points, but it’s worth noting they still beat Cal Poly by significant margins in that pair. In any case, Hawaii has hit 83 or more in three of their first four games, and this could be a good matchup for their offense. Should be entertaining.
