The NJIT Highlanders and the Albany Great Danes meet Saturday in college basketball action from ChaseFamily Arena.

NJIT enters this one at 7-11 so far. The Highlanders are 1-3 in their last four games and coming off a loss to Binghamton. As for Albany, they’re sitting at 6-8 this year. The Danes are 2-1 in their last three and coming off a win over Stony Brook. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

NJIT opened up the season at a decent 4-3 clip, but then lost five of their next seven games. After a near two-week pause, the Highlanders came back to a win over Hartford, then lost their next three games to Hartford and Binghamton (twice).

In the 72-58 loss to Binghamton last weekend, NJIT’s Zach Cooks lied the team on 20 points with four rebounds, two assists and five steals. Mekhi Gray added 13 points with three rebounds and one assist.

Over on the Danes’ side, they stumbled out of the gate this year at 1-5, but then notched three wins over their next four games versus NJIT and New Hampshire. Since then it’s been a 2-2 run with wins over UMass Lowell and Stony Brook.

In the 67-59 win over Stony Brook on Sunday, Albany’s CJ Kelly led the way with 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Kellon Taylor, Jarvis Doles, Jamel Horton and Antonio Rizzuto added 10 points apiece for the Danes as well.

Albany is 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral-site games and 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 after an ATS win. The Danes are 6-2 ATS in their last eight Saturday games and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 overall.
Meanwhile, the Highlanders are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall and 0-6 ATS in the last six versus a team with a losing straight-up record. The under is 11-4 in NJIT’s last 15 Saturday games and the over is 8-3 in their last 11 after an ATS loss.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Albany in this one. NJIT has given up 72 or more points in each of their last three games, and they’ve been at 67 points or below themselves in each of the last four. The Great Danes have had their own spotty scoring issues, but they got wins in the last two matchups between these teams 83-75 and 83-71. Should be a similar result here.
