The Penn State Nittany Lions come into this one looking to bounce back after an 80-72 loss to Purdue last time out. Myreon Jones leads the Nittany Lions in scoring with 15.4 PPG while Izaiah Brockington is 2nd in scoring with 14.8 PPG with 5.3 RPG this season. Seth Lundy has 11.9 PPG with 3.5 RPG and Sam Sessions has 11.5 PPG with 2.8 APG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Penn State coming into this game against Illinois. John Harrar has 7.9 PPG with a team-high 7.5 RPG while Jamari Wheeler has a team-high 4.1 APG this season. As a team, Penn State is averaging 77.6 PPG on 42.8% shooting from the field, 35.5% from 3-point range and 70.9% from the foul line while allowing opposing teams to average 76.8 PPG on 47.1% shooting from the field and 29.2% from 3-point range this season.

The Illinois Fighting Illini will look to bounce back after an 87-81 loss to Ohio State last time out. Ayo Dosunmu leads the Illini in scoring and assists with 22.4 PPG to go along with 4.9 APG while also logging 6.7 RPG and Kofi Cockburn has 17.1 PPG along with a team-high 10.1 RPG to make up the dynamic duo of double-digit scorers for Illinois coming into this game. Adam Miller has 9.6 PPG and Alex Curbelo has 8.8 PPG with 4.4 APG this season. As a team, Illinois is averaging 83.1 PPG on 51.3% shooting from the field, 40.5% from 3-point range and 68.8% from the foul line while giving up 69.1 PPG on 41.2% shooting from the field and 33.2% from 3-point range this season.

Part of me wanted to give Penn State a look here with the points, but the problem I have is that Illinois is just the far better team and sometimes it’s just as simple as that. I don’t think Penn State has any sort of answer for Dosunmu or Cockburn, and while Illinois has stumbled a bit lately, I think this is a perfect get-right spot with a double-digit win for the Illini. I’ll lay the points with Illinois in this one.
