The San Diego Toreros and the Loyola Marymount Lions meet in college basketball action from Gersten Pavilion on Tuesday night.

The San Diego Toreros will be out to bounce back from a 69-63 loss to Santa Clara last time out. Joey Calcaterra leads the Toreros in scoring and assists with 15.2 PPG and 2 APG while also logging 3.4 RPG and Josh Parrish has 10.3 PPG with 4 RPG as the only other double-digit scorer for San Diego coming into Tuesday’s matchup with LMU. Frankie Hughs has 9 PPG and Vladimir Pinchuk has 6.8 PPG with 4.3 RPG and Yauhen MAssalski has 6.8 PPG as well with a team-high 7.8 RPG this season. As a team, San Diego is averaging 62.7 PPG on 38.6% shooting from the field, 31.4% from behind the arc and 70.1% from the foul line while giving up 74.5 PPG on 44.2% shooting from the field and 41.8% from 3-point range this season.

The Loyola Marymount Lions will try to rebound from a 58-49 loss to Pacific last time out. Eli Scott leads the Lions in scoring, rebounding and assists with 15 PPG, 8.7 RPG and 3.3 APG while Dameane Douglas has 13.1 PPG and 7 RPG this season. Keli Leaupepe has 10.3 PPG with 4.5 RPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Loyola Marymount up to this point in the year. As a team, Loyola Marymount is averaging 69 PPG on 43.2% shooting from the field, 29.3% from 3-point range and 69.3% from the foul line while giving up 66.2 PPG on 42.2% shooting from the field and 36.2% from 3-point land this season.

San Diego is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games and 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 games overall. Loyola Marymount is 4-1 ATS in their alst 5 home games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games against a team with a losing record while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall. The favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

These feels like a big number to lay with LMU, but the problem for me is that San Diego isn’t the same kind of dog that they were last year as the Toreros keep getting decent numbers and flat out just don’t cover them. Loyola Marymount doesn’t score a ton, but they do enough to keep themselves in the right position as the clock winds down, so I’ll lay the points with Loyola Marymount in this spot.
