The San Jose State Spartans and the New Mexico Lobos meet Thursday in college basketball action from Burns Arena.

San Jose State enters this game at 2-10 so far. The Spartans have lost four straight, most recently to Colorado State last week. As for New Mexico, they’re 4-8 this season. The Lobos have lost consecutive games to UNLV. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

San Jose State began their season with a win over Fresno Pacific, but then fell to Saint Mary’s, Cal Poly, Utah State and Boise State in their next six games. After a win over Benedictine Mesa, the Spartans lost four more games; two each to Fresno State and Colorado State.

In the Saturday loss to the Rams, San Jose State’s Rich Washington and Sebastian Mendoza each notched 15 points, combining for five rebounds and five assists. Ralph Agee added 12 points with five rebounds and Jalen Dalcourt had 10 points with two boards in 25 minutes.

Over on the New Mexico side, they won their first three games this season over Rice, Our Lady of the Lake and LeTourneau. After that came six straight losses, two each to Boise State, Nevada and Utah State. The Lobos beat Dixie State but have fallen in their last two to UNLV.

In Monday’s loss to UNLV, New Mexico’s Saquan Singleton topped the team on 11 points with six rebounds and six assists, and Valdir Manuel put up 10 points and five rebounds. Makuach Maluach added nine points with eight boards and one assist in 32 minutes on the floor.

The over is 11-5-1 in the Lobos’ last 17 Thursday games and the under is 14-3-1 in their last 18 overall. New Mexico is 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine games overall.

Meanwhile, the Spartans are 15-35-1 ATS in their last 51 road games and 19-40-1 ATS in the last 60 overall. San Jose State is 0-4 ATS in their last four Thursday games and 1-9 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS loss.

PICK: I’m going to stick with New Mexico. There’s not a ton of intrigue involved in a matchup featuring teams that are a combined 6-18, but the good news is that this should be a competitive game at least. Neither of these teams is great at scoring; San Jose State has been at 65 or below in each of their last four and New Mexico has 100 combined in their last pair. Still, I think the Lobos have a good enough offense to bang out a cover here.

Andrew's Free Pick: New Mexico Lobos -6.5
