The Little Rock Trojans and the Texas-Arlington Mavericks meet Friday in college basketball action from College Park Center. 

Little Rock enters this one at 7-6 so far. The Trojans have lost consecutive games to Texas State in their last pair. As for Texas-Arlington, they’re 7-7 this season. Little Rock opened their season at 2-2, then hit a 4-1 run with wins over Central AR, Champion and Texas-Arlington (twice). The Trojans have gone just 1-3 since then, splitting a pair of games with Louisiana and falling to Texas State twice last weekend. 

In Saturday’s 67-56 loss to the Bobcats, Little Rock’s Ben Coupet led the team on 20 points with four rebounds and one assist. Nikola Maric added 11 points with three rebounds and Ruot Monyyong chipped in a double-double on 10 points, 10 rebounds and one assist. 

Over on the Texas-Arlington side, their season began at 1-4 with a long win over Northwestern State. The Mavericks then rattled off three straight wins before falling twice to Little Rock and beating LA-Monroe in consecutive games. After a win over Louisiana, the Mavericks fell to the Cajuns on Saturday. 

In Saturday’s 68-51 loss to Louisiana, Texas-Arlington’s Fredelin De La Cruz posted 10 points with 10 rebounds. Shahada Wells was the only other Mavericks player to finish in double-figures with 10 points, four rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes on the court. 

Texas-Arlington is 2-5 ATS in their last seven games overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 after an ATS loss. The over is 5-2 in the Mavericks’ last seven overall and 5-2 in their last seven after an ATS loss. 

Meanwhile, the Trojans are 2-7 ATS in their last nine Friday games and 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games overall. Little Rock is 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games and the over is 8-1 in their last nine road games. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on UT-Arlington in this one. Granted, the last time these teams played was a pair of wins for Little Rock, 102-93 and 75-62. The Trojans destroyed Texas-Arlington in most areas of the game, and the Mavericks just didn’t look good. That said, Texas-Arlington has played better in their last handful of games and I think they’re prime for a revenge cover in this one.
