Florida State vs Miami College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 1/27/21

The Miami Hurricanes and the Florida State Seminoles meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Donald L. Tucker Center. 

Miami comes into this one at 6-8 overall. The Hurricanes have lost consecutive games to Syracuse and Notre Dame. As for Florida State, they’re 9-2 this season. Miami began their year at 4-2 before taking losses to Virginia Tech, Clemson and North Carolina in succession. The Hurricanes beat NC State and Louisville in their next three games (with a win over Boston College), then lost to Syracuse and Notre Dame in their last pair. 

In the 73-59 loss to Notre Dame on Sunday, Miami’s Kameron McGusty posted 20 points with three rebounds and three assists. Isaiah Wong put up 16 points with four rebounds and three assists, and Elijah Olaniyi managed 10 points with five boards as well. 

Over on the Florida State side, they kicked off with wins over North Florida, Indiana, Florida and Georgia Tech before a loss to UCF. The Seminoles then beat Garner-Web, lost to Clemson and took out NC State, North Carolina, Louisville and Clemson in their next quartet. 

In Saturday’s 80-61 win over the Tigers, Florida State’s Balsa Koprivica doubled up on 13 points with 10 rebounds and one assist. Sardaar Calhoun added 13 points in 17 minutes, and Raiquan Gray had 11 points with three boards in 11 minutes of action. 

The Seminoles are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games. Florida State is 4-1 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. 

Meanwhile, the Hurricanes are 9-20 ATS in their last 29 Wednesday games and 4-10 ATS in their last 14 road games. Miami is 5-1 ATS in their last six versus a team with a winning straight-up record and the under is 7-3 in their last 10 after a straight-up loss. 

PICK: I’m going to take Florida State here. The Hurricanes had a nice couple of games going earlier this month, but they’ve been flat in their last pair and were outscored by a combined 156-116 margin. Florida State has hit 78 or more points in each of their last four and are coming off a nice revenge win over Clemson. I like the Seminoles to keep it rolling here on a cover.
