Florida vs Vanderbilt College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 1/27/21

The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Florida Gators meet Wednesday in college basketball action from O’Connell Center. 

Vanderbilt comes into this one at 4-7 so far. The Commodores have lost five straight games, most recently to Arkansas. As for Florida, they’re 8-4 this season. Vanderbilt began their year at 3-1 with a loss to Richmond as their only blemish. After a loss to Davidson and a win over Alcorn State, the Commodores have lost each of their last five versus Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Tennessee and Arkansas. 

In Saturday’s 92-71 loss to the Razorbacks, Vanderbilt’s DJ Harvey put up 16 points with four rebounds to lead the team. Scotty Pippen, Jr. managed 15 points, five assists and three boards, while Maxwell Evans put up 14 points with five rebounds and one assist. 

Over on the Florida Side, they started out at 3-1 as well with a loss to Florida State as their only blemish. After consecutive wins, the Gators went 1-3 in their next four games with a lone win over Ole Miss. Since then it’s been two wins over Tennessee and Georgia for the Gators. 

In the 92-84 win Saturday over Georgia, Florida’s Tre Mann led the wagon 24 points with four assists and six rebounds. Noah Locke added 16 points, and both Tyree Appleby and Colin Castleton notched 14 points, three rebounds and three assists apiece. 

The Gators are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five Wednesday games. The over is 5-0 in Florida’s last five after an ATS win and 5-2 in their last seven Wednesday games.
Meanwhile, the Commodores are 0-4 ATS in their last four Wednesday games and 1-6 ATS in their last seven versus a team with a winning straight-up record. The over is 7-0 in Vanderbilt’s last seven overall and 6-0 in their last six road games. 

PICK: I like Florida here. The last time these teams met up (December 30), the Gators notched a 91-72 victory. Florida shot a scorching 61.8 percent from the field with 36 rebounds and 14 assists, jumping out to a 43-29 halftime lead and never looking back. I don’t think this rematch will be quite as dominant for the Gators, but I still like them on a cover here.
