Louisville vs Georgia Tech College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/1/21

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Louisville Cardinals meet Monday in college basketball action from KFC Yum! Center. 

Georgia Tech enters this one at 8-5 overall. The Yellow Jackets are 1-2 in their last three and coming off a win over Florida State. As for Louisville, they’re 10-4 this season. Georgia Tech started out their year at 2-2 with wins over Kentucky and Nebraska. After a loss to Florida State, the Yellow Jackets went on a five-game win streak before losses to Virginia and Duke. On Saturday, Georgia Tech bagged another win over Florida State. 

In the 76-65 win over the Seminoles on Friday, Georgia Tech’s Moses Wright led the way on 23 points with eight rebounds and two assists. Jose Alvarado added 21 points with six assets and three boards, and Michael Devoe had 19 points with eight rebounds and four assists. 

Over on the Louisville side, their season began with four straight wins before a loss to Wisconsin. Five more wins followed for the Cardinals, but they’re 1-3 in their last four outings. The win came against Duke; otherwise it’s been losses to Miami, Florida State and Clemson. 

In the 54-50 loss to the Tigers on Wednesday, Louisville’s only double-digit scorer was Carlik Jones with 11 points, five rebounds and three assists. Jae’Lyn Withers added 12 rebounds and seven points, and Samuell Williamson put up 10 rebounds with seven points. 

The over is 7-0 in the Cardinals’ last seven Monday games and 4-1 in their last five as a favorite. The over is 9-4-1 in Louisville’s last 14 at home versus a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400 as well. 

Meanwhile, the Jackets are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. The over is 5-2-1 in Georgia Tech’s last eight overall and 6-2-1 in their last nine road games. 

PICK: I like Georgia Tech here. The Jackets put up a nice outing versus Florida State, forcing 20 turnovers and shooting 43.9 percent from the floor in the win despite getting out-rebounded 37-31. It was a nice result after a couple of tough losses in the games before. Louisville shot just 31.6 percent in the Clemson game and generally looked out of sorts. I think the Cardinals will regroup and play better here but I like Georgia Tech to bang out a cover. Should be a great matchup.
