The Tennessee Volunteers and the LSU Tigers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Tennessee comes into this one at 14-4 so far. The Volunteers are 2-1 in their last three games and coming off a win over Georgia. As for LSU, they’re 12-6 this year. The Tigers are 1-2 in their last trio and beat Mississippi State in their most recent outing. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Tennessee began their season with a 10-3 run, falling to Alabama, Florida and Missouri. The Volunteers began a 4-1 run over their next five games. The loss came to Ole Miss, and the victories came courtesy of Mississippi State, Kansas, Kentucky and Georgia.

In the 89-81 win over Georgia on Wednesday, Tennessee’s Jaden Springer led the team on 30 points with four rebounds and two assists. Santiago Vescovi added 19 points with six boards and three assists, and Josiah-Jordan James posted 18 points with six rebounds and three assists.

Over on the LSU side, they began the year on a strong 10-2 run with losses to Saint Louis and Florida. Since then it’s been a sketchy 2-4 run, however. The Tigers beat Texas A&M and Mississippi State while otherwise falling to Alabama, Kentucky, Texas Tech and Alabama.

In Wednesday’s 94-80 win over Mississippi State, LSU’s Cameron Thomas led the way on 25 points with four rebounds and four assists, and Javonte Smart put up 22 points with 11 assists and four boards. Darius Days doubled up as well with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Tigers are 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall and 1-6 ATS in their last seven Saturday games. LSU is 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and the over is 6-2 in their last eight overall.

Meanwhile, the Volunteers are 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. The under is 4-1 in Tennessee’s last five road games and the over is 4-0 in the last four versus a team with a winning straight-up record.

PICK: I’m going to take LSU here. The Tigers had a rough 1-4 run recently, and three of those losses were to ranked teams (technically two to Alabama). Outside of that LSU has been playing pretty well this season and scoring at a solid clip. Tennessee has hit 80 or more points in three of their last four games, so the Tigers are going to have to get it going early. I think LSU can keep the pace on a cover in this one.
