The Weber State Wildcats and the Montana Grizzlies meet Saturday in college basketball action from Dahlberg Arena.
Weber State enters this one at 11-5 so far. As for Montana, they’re 9-9 this year. This will be a rematch of Thursday’s game featuring these teams. In that one, Montana posted an 80-67 win. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Weber State stumbled out of the gate at 3-3 but then hit a four-game win streak before a loss to Southern Utah. Since then the Wildcats are 4-1 with wins over Idaho and Montana State prior to Thursday’s 13-point loss to Montana.
In the 80-67 loss to Montana, Weber State’s top scorer was Seikou Sisoho Jawara with 19 points, two rebounds and one assist. Dontay Bassett put up 13 points with six rebounds and one assist, and Isiah Brown chipped in 12 points with five assists.
Over on the Montana side, they went 3-6 in their first nine games before rattling off three straight wins over Northern Colorado, Whitworth and Northern Arizona. Since then it’s been a 3-3 stretch with wins over Sacramento State, Portland State and Weber State.
In the win over Weber State on Thursday, Montana’s Kyle Owens put up 27 points with two rebounds in 35 minutes. Cameron Parker added 15 points with six assists and two boards, while Josh Bannan logged 13 points with four rebounds and three assists.
The Grizzlies are 0-5 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 1-6 ATS in the last seven home games. Montana is 0-7 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 5-12 ATS in their last 17 games overall.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 4-1 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 26-9-2 ATS in their last 37 after an ATS loss. Weber State is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Weber State here. Montana played a great game on Thursday in the 13-point win, shooting 52.6 percent from the field and 50.0 percent from 3-point range. The Grizzlies had more assists (19-11) but the teams were similar in may of the other key team categories. I like the Wildcats to bounce back on a cover/win in this one.
