The Michigan Wolverines and the Wisconsin Badgers meet Sunday in college basketball action from Kohl Center.
Michigan enters this one at 13-1 so far. The Wolverines are 2-1 in their last three games and coming off a win over Purdue. As for Wisconsin, they’re 15-6 this year. The Badgers are also 2-1 in their last three and beat Nebraska in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Michigan has had a solid season so far, but they’re coming off a lengthy break. The Wolverines’ last game was back on January 22 against Purdue. In Michigan’s last four games, they’ve lost to Minnesota while otherwise beating Wisconsin, Maryland and Purdue.
In the 70-53 win over Purdue, Michigan’s leading scorer was Isaiah Livers with 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Eli Brooks added 11 points with five rebounds, and both Hunter Dickinson and Franz Wagner chipped in eight points apiece.
Over on the Wisconsin side, they started out the year at 12-3 and have been alternating wins with losses since then. In that 3-3 stretch, the Badgers have losses to Ohio State, Penn State and Illinois alongside wins versus Maryland, Penn State and Nebraska.
In the 61-48 win over Nebraska on Wednesday, Wisconsin’s only double-digit scorer was Jonathan Davis with 10 points, three rebounds and one assist. Aleem Ford, D’Mitrik Trice and Brad Davidson each chipped in with nine points as well.
The Badgers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven Sunday games and 4-0-1 ATS in their last five home games versus a team with a winning road record. The over is 5-0 in Wisconsin’s last five Sunday games and the under is 6-2-1 in the last nine overall.
Meanwhile, the Wolverines are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games. The under is 4-1 in Michigan’s last five overall and the under is 7-2 in the last nine Sunday games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Michigan. The last time these teams met up on January 12, the Wolverines took a dominant 77-54 win. Michigan shot 51.6 percent from the floor in that one, pulling down 42 rebounds with 13 team assists and just eight turnovers. The Wolverines may be a little rusty after the long layoff in this one, but I think they’ll eventually find the groove and cover.
