The Michigan State Spartans and the Purdue Boilermakers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Mackey Arena.

Michigan State comes into this one at 10-8 so far. The Spartans are 2-1 in their last three games and coming off a loss to Iowa. As for Purdue, they’re 13-8 this season. The Boilermakers are 1-2 in their last three games and coming off a loss to Minnesota. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Michigan State started out the year at 6-0, but then went 2-7 over their next nine games with only wins over Nebraska and Rutgers to show for it. Since then it’s been two wins over Nebraska and Penn State and a loss to Iowa in their last outing.

In the 88-58 loss to the Hawkeyes, Michigan State’s Gabe Brown put up 15 points with two rebounds and one assist. Aaron Henry added 13 points with four boards and two assists, and Joshua Langford had 11 points with four rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Purdue side, their season began at 7-5 before a four-game win streak over Michigan State, Indiana, Penn State and Ohio State. Since then it’s been a 2-3 run with wins over Minnesota and Northwestern alongside losses to Michigan, Maryland and Minnesota.

In the 71-68 loss to Minnesota on Thursday, Purdue’s Trevion Williams put up 24 points with 10 rebounds and Eric Hunter added 14 points, three assists and two rebounds. Zach Eadey chipped in with 13 points and two boards as well.

The Boilermakers are 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight home games and 1-5-2 ATS in their last eight after an ATS loss. The under is 4-1 in Purdue’s last five Tuesday games and the over is 16-5 in their last 21 home games.

Meanwhile, the Spartans are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 8-20 ATS in their last 28 games overall. Michigan State is 4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday gams and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 after an ATS loss.

PICK: I’m going to take a shot on Purdue here. You could probably make a good case either way, though; this should be another good matchup. In any case, these teams last met in early January in a 55-54 Boilermakers win. Neither team’s offense has been all that consistent recently, but Purdue can notch some good points totals when they’re rolling. I think the Boilermakers can eke out a cover here.
