Ohio vs Akron College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/23/21

The Akron Zips and the Ohio Bobcats meet Tuesday in college basketball action from Ohio University Convocation Center.
Akron enters this one at 14-4 so far. The Zips have won four straight games and are coming off a victory over Ball State. As for Ohio, they’re sitting at 11-6 right now. Akron kicked off the year at a shaky 4-3 clip, but since then the Zips have gone 10-1 over their last 11 games. Since their last loss to Toledo on February 2, the Zips have taken out Kent State, Miami-OH, Northern Illinois and Ball State.
In the 88-79 win over Ball State on Friday, Akron’s Ali Ali led the team on 20 points with four rebounds. Bryan Trimble added 19 points with two boards, and Loren Jackson doubled up on 12 points, 11 assists and three rebounds.
Over on the Ohio side, they started off at 4-1 this year before hitting a three-game losing streak versus Marshall, Akron and Bowling Green. After a 3-3 stretch, the Bobcats have won their last four games versus Ball State, Western Michigan, Buffalo and Central Michigan.
In the 83-69 win over Central Michigan, Ohio’s Jason Preston notched a double-double on 17 points with 11 rebounds and six assists. Dwight Wilson also doubled up for the Bobcats in that one with 14 points and 10 rebounds in 30 minutes on the floor.
The Bobcats are 11-3 ATS in their last 14 home games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Tuesday games. Ohio is 20-8 ATS in their last 28 overall and the over is 7-2 in their last nine home games.
Meanwhile, the Zips are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Tuesday games. Akron is 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and the over is 4-1 in their last five road games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Akron. When these teams last met back in December, Akron pulled off a 90-70 victory. The Zips shot a scorching 63.6 percent from the floor and 56.0 percent from 3-point range in that one, and also out-rebounded the Bobcats 37-25. This one will likely be a tougher game for Akron, but I still like the Zips to take control and cover/win.
