The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions and the Prairie View A&M Panthers meet Tuesday in college basketball action from William Nicks Building.
AR-Pine Bluff enters this one at 3-17 so far. The Lions have lost their last nine straight, most recently to Southern U. As for Prairie View, they’re 8-4 this season. The Panthers are riding a seven-game win streak, most recently over Texas Southern. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff started off the year with a 1-8 record and a lone win over Arkansas State. After wins over MS Valley State and Alabama State, the Lions dropped their next nine games. The latest loss in that series came to Southern on February 13.
In the 73-71 OT loss to Southern U, AR-Pine Bluff’s Shaun Doss led the way on 21 points with six rebounds and two assists. Terrance Banyard added 13 points with two rebounds and one assist, and Jalen Lynn had 10 points with three assists and two rebounds.
Over on the Prairie View A&M side, their year started out on a 1-4 skid, but then the Panthers hit a seven-game win streak. Those victories came versus Texas Southern, Grambling, MS Valley State, AR-Pine Bluff, Alabama A&M, Alabama State and Texas Southern.
In the 77-75 win over Texas Southern, Prairie View’s leading scorer was Jawaun Daniels with 17 points, five rebounds and one assist. Cam Mack added 13 points with five rebounds and six assists, and three other Panthers players chipped in 10 points apiece.
The Panthers are 6-0 ATS in the last six home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five as an underdog. Prairie View A&M is 8-0 ATS in their last eight as a favorite and the over is 7-1 in their last eight Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 1-4 ATS in their last five Tuesday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. AR-Pine Bluff is 4-1 ATS in the last five as an underdog and the over is 4-1 in their last five as a road favorite.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Prairie View in this one. The Panthers have put up some pretty impressive offensive numbers during this seven-game win streak, posting 73 or more points in six of them. The Lions have hit more than 67 points just once in the last four games, so if they don’t get going on the scoreboard early AR-Pine Bluff could be in trouble here.
