The Golden Flashes enter this one at 14-5 so far. Kent State is riding a four-game win streak and coming off a victory over Eastern Michigan. As for Ball State, they’re 7-11 this season. The Cardinals have lost consecutive games to Bowling Green and Akron. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.
Kent State was sitting at 7-4 back on January 23, but the Flashes have put together a 7-1 run since then. The victories in that stretch have come courtesy of Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Miami-OH, Northern Illinois, Western Michigan and Eastern Michigan.
In the 64-51 win over Eastern Michigan on Saturday, Kent State’s Danny Pippen led the team with 25 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists. Tervell Beck and Giovanni Santiago each notched 12 points, combining for seven assists and seven rebounds.
Over on the Ball State side, they were last above .500 back on January 19, and it’s been a 1-6 skid since then. Over that span, the Cardinals have posted losses to Ohio, Akron, Buffalo, Bowling Green and Akron again.
In the 88-79 loss to Akron on Friday, Ball State’s Ishmael El-Amin put up 20 points with three rebounds. Brachen Hazen added 18 points with four boards and three assists, and KJ Walton had 12 points with three rebounds and one assist.
The Cardinals are 1-6 ATS in their last seven games overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five as a favorite. The over is 17-5 in Ball State’s last 22 overall and 8-2 in their last 10 home games.
Meanwhile, the Flashes are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six as a road underdog. Kent State is 1-4-1 ATS in their last six as a favorite as well.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Kent State. The Cardinals have looked pretty sketchy over their last five games, posting 62 or fewer points in three of those outings. The Golden Flashes are on a nice run themselves, with only the one blemish versus Akron in their last eight games. Should be Kent State’s cover to take if they play well.
