The Duquesne Dukes and the La Salle Explorers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Tom Gola Arena.

Duquesne enters this one at 7-7 overall. The Dukes are 3-1 in their last four and coming off a loss to Richmond. As for La Salle, they’re 8-14 this year. The Explorers have lost four straight games, most recently to Saint Joseph’s. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Duquesne has been hovering around the .500 mark for most of the year, but had a good run in late January with a 4-1 stretch. The Dukes had a three-game win streak over Fordham, Saint Joseph’s and Dayton before their loss to Richmond on Saturday.

In the 79-72 loss to the Spiders, Duquesne’s Michael Hughes put up 20 points with nine rebounds and three assists. Both Chad Baker and Marcus Weathers managed 12 points apiece, combining for 13 rebounds and two assists as well.

Over on the La Salle side, they were sitting at 7-8 back on January 23, but have hit a 1-6 stretch since then. The Explorers have notched losses to Rhode Island, VCU, Fordham, St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis and Saint Joseph’s in that time.

In the 91-82 overtime loss to Saint Joseph’s on Saturday, La Salle’s Christian Ray put up 18 points with 11 rebounds to lead the team. Jared Kimbrough also doubled up in that one for the Explorers with 12 points, 10 rebounds and one assist in 35 minutes on the floor.

The Explorers are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four games overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six as a home favorite. The over is 4-1 in La Salle’s last five overall and 11-5 in their last 16 home games.

Meanwhile, the Dukes are 5-0 ATS in their last five after an ATS win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven as a road underdog. Duquesne is 6-0 ATS in their last six overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Duquesne, but probably staying away from this one. The Dukes have been scoring reasonably well lately with 67 or more points in five of their last six outings. La Salle hasn’t been too bad on offense themselves, but they’ve also give up a lot of points on the other side. If Duquesne can find a good scoring rhythm here I think they’ll be in good shape for a cover.
