The Tennessee Volunteers and the Auburn Tigers meet Saturday in college basketball action from Auburn Arena.
Tennessee enters this one at 16-6 so far. The Volunteers are 2-2 in their last four games and coming off a win over Vanderbilt. As for Auburn, they’re 11-13 this year. Tennessee came into the year on a nice 10-1 clip before losing three of their next five to Florida, Missouri and Ole Miss. Since then the Volunteers are on a 4-2 run. The wins in that stretch have come over Kentucky, Georgia, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.
In the 70-58 win over Vanderbilt on Wednesday, Tennessee’s Victor Bailey put up 21 points with three rebounds and three assists. Jaden Springer added 20 points for the Vols, and Yves Pons doubled up on 10 points, 10 rebounds and one assist.
Over on the Auburn side, they were sitting at 10-7 back on January 26, but they’ve gone just 1-6 since then. The victory in that stretch was over Vanderbilt; the losses were to Baylor, Georgia, Ole Miss, Kentucky, LSU and Florida.
In the 74-57 loss to Florida on Tuesday, Auburn’s Devan Cambridge put up 14 points with two rebounds and one assist. Jaylin Williams added 11 points, and both JT Thor and Jamal Johnson chipped in with 10 points apiece for the Tigers.
Auburn is 0-4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. The Tigers are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six overall and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight home games.
Meanwhile, the Vols are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five road games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall. Tennessee is 0-4 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win and the under is 6-1 in their last seven road games.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Tennessee in this one. Auburn has been scoring pretty well for the most part during this 1-6 stretch, but they’re also giving up truckloads of points to some tough teams along the way. The Volunteers offense bounced back on Wednesday after a stiff effort versus Kentucky (55 points), and I like Tennessee to keep it going with a strong game here.
