The VCU Rams and the Davidson Wildcats meet Saturday in college basketball action from Belk Arena.

VCU enters this matchup at 17-5 so far. The Rams are 1-1 in their last pair and coming off a win over Saint Louis. As for Davidson, they’re 11-7 this year. The Wildcats have posted losses to St. Bonaventure in their last two games. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

VCU came into the year on a strong 9-2 run through their first 11 games, then lost to Rhode Island and St. Bonaventure in their next three. Since then it’s been a 7-1 run for the Rams. After an OT loss to George Mason, they bounced back with a win over St. Louis.

In the Tuesday win over St. Louis, VCU’s Vince Williams put up 16 points with nine rebounds, while Adrian Baldwin had 15 points, seven assists and three boards. Both Jamir Watkins and Levi Stockard added nine points apiece as well.

Over on the Wildcats’ side, they’ve been able to maintain some pretty solid consistency this year, losing consecutive games on just two occasions so far. After a recent five-game win streak, Davidson has lost their last two games to St. Bonaventure.

In the 56-53 loss to St. Bonaventure on Wednesday, Davidson’s Carter Collins led the team on 16 points with seven rebounds and three assists. Luka Brajkovic added 12 points with six rebounds and one assist, and Lee Hyun-jung had nine points.

The Wildcats are 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall and 0-5 ATS in their last five home games. Davidson is 5-2 ATS in their last seven Saturday games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine after an ATS loss.

Meanwhile, the Rams are 1-4 ATS in their last five road games and 0-5 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. The under is 6-2 in VCU’s last eight Saturday games and 7-2 in their last nine overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with VCU. The Rams haven’t exactly been lighting it up on the scoreboards lately, but they’ve been getting the job done on defense over this current 7-1 stretch. Davidson notched just 111 combined points in the two St. Bonaventure games, and if they’re not totally on point when it comes to scoring here I think VCU will take the cover.
