The Loyola Marymount Lions and the Gonzaga Bulldogs meet Saturday in college basketball action from McCarthey Athletic Center.
LMU enters this one at 12-7 so far. The Lions are 5-1 in their last six games and coming off a win over Pepperdine. As for Gonzaga, they’re rolling along at 23-0 this year. Loyola Marymount kicked off their season at just 2-3 but then hit a four-game win streak to crawl back above .500 on the year. After a 1-3 stretch, the Lions have gone 5-1 in their last half-dozen games, most recently taking out Pepperdine on Thursday.
In the 81-74 win over Pepperdine, LMU’s Keli Leaupepe posted 17 points with eight rebounds and two assists. Jalin Anderson had 16 points with two assists, and Mattias Markusson chipped in 15 points with six boards.
Over on the Gonzaga side, there’s really not much to complain about this season. It’s been a perfect 23-0 run stretching from November 26 to February 25, and the Bulldogs have scored well in every game. Thursday was yet another victory, this time over Santa Clara.
In the 89-75 win over Santa Clara, Gonzaga’s Corey Kispert put up 25 points with seven rebounds, and Drew Time added 18 points with six boards. Jalen Suggs notched a double-double on 13 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists as well.
The Bulldogs are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight home games and 4-0 ATS in their last four Saturday games. Gonzaga is 3-1-1 ATS in their last five overall and the over is 36-15 in their last 51 overall.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 5-1 ATS in their last six overall and 4-0 ATS in their last four road games. LMU is 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 Saturday games and the over is 4-1 in their last five overall.
PICK: I’m going to roll with LMU in this one. The Lions have been putting up some nice points totals lately, with 71 or more in five of their last six outings. Gonzaga has hit 73 or more in every game this season, so they’ll have no issues putting up points here. That said, I think LMU has enough offensive gas to keep the pace and get into a cover. Should be an interesting game.
