Texas State vs Louisiana-Monroe College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 2/26/21

The Louisiana Monroe Warhawks and the Texas State Bobcats meet Friday in college basketball action from Strahan Coliseum. 

Louisiana Monroe enters this one at 7-16 so far. The Warhawks have won consecutive games over Little Rock in their last pair. As for Texas State, they’re sitting at 16-6 this year. Louisiana Monroe hasn’t been able to sustain more than two consecutive wins so far this year, and the team hit a bad 10-game losing streak in late January and early February. The good news is that the Warhawks have three wins in their last four games over Louisiana and Little Rock. 

In the 68-64 win over Little Rock on Monday, Louisiana Monroe’s Marco Morency put up 18 points with four rebounds and two assists. Josh Nicholas added 15 points with two rebounds, and Harrison Russell had 11 points with five boards. 

Over on the Texas State side, they’ve been on a nice run during this calendar year, notching just two losses in their last 12 games. The Bobcats have beaten Little Rock, UT-Arlington and Arkansas State over this five-game winning streak. 

In the 57-52 win over Arkansas State on Monday, Texas State’s Mason Harrell put up 17 points with five rebounds and four assists. Isiah Small added 13 points with five rebounds, and Caleb Asberry had 12 points with five boards for the Bobcats. 

Texas State is 7-0-1 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win and 4-0 ATS in their last four after a straight-up win. The Bobcats are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Friday games and the under is 4-0 in their last four Friday games. 

Meanwhile, the Warhawks are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 5-1 ATS in their last six overall. UL Monroe is 2-5 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win and the under is 5-2-1 in their last eight overall. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Louisiana Monroe here. The Warhawks had an ugly run going during that losing streak, but they’ve hit 72 or more points in three of their last four games. The last time these teams met up, Texas State took both games 57-47 and 69-63. I like the Warhawks to come out swinging in this one and bag a cover.
