The Kansas State Wildcats and the West Virginia Mountaineers meet in college basketball action from the WVU Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

The Kansas State Wildcatswill look to build on a 62-57 win over Oklahoma last time out. Nijel Pack leads the Wildcats in scoring and assists with 12.1 PPG and 3.9 APG while Mike McGuirl has 11.8 PPG with 3.4 APG as the lone pair of double-digit scorers for K-State up to this point in the season. Dajuan Gordon has 9.3 PPG with 5.6 RPG while Antonio Gordon has a team-high 5.7 RPG as well this season to lead the Wildcats on the glass. As a team, Kansas State is averaging 62 PPG on 41.4% shooting from the field, 29.6% from 3-point range and 66.4% from the foul line while allowing 71.7 PPG on 46.6% shooting from the field and 37.7% from 3-point range this season.

The West Virginia Mountaineers will look to build off of the 74-66 win over TCU in their last matchup. Miles McBride leads WVU in scoring and assists with 16 PPG and 4.7 APG while Derek Culver has 15.1 PPG and a team-high 10.3 RPG to average a double-double per game while leading the Mountaineers on the glass. Taz Sherman has 13.2 PPG and Sean McNeil has 11.5 PPG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for WVU up to this point in the year. As a team, West Virginia is averaging 77.6 PPG on 43.2% shooting from the field, 36.8% from 3-point range and 69.4% from the foul line while allowing 72.1 PPG on 44% shooting from the field and 32.7% from 3-point range this season.

Kansas State is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 road games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games as an underdog. West Virginia is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 6-15-1 ATS in their last 22 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 games as a home favorite. The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

I get the case that can be made for K-State here as the Mountaineers have had issues with bigger numbers, but the problem I have is that K-State, while they’ve played improved basketball, just are not playing well enough to keep this one close against a West Virginia team that can bury you early and often, especially if you’re a below average squad. I’ll lay it and play it with the Mountaineers at home in this one.
