The Boston Terriers and the Army Black Knights meet in college basketball action from Christi Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Boston Terriers will look to build on their 75-63 win over Army last time out and try to sweep the double-header from the Black Knights. Javante McCoy leads the Terriers in scoring and assists with 15.5 PPG and 2.3 APG along with 4.3 RPG while Walter Whyte has 6.3 RPG with 13.2 PPG and Sukhmail Mathon has 11.1 PPG with 8 RPG as well for the Terriers this season to cap off their trio of double-digit scorers for the squad. As a team, Boston is averaging 70.4 PPG on 43.7% shooting from the field, 31.9% from 3-point range and 74.8% from the foul line while allowing 75.9 PPG on 48.4% shooting from the field and 38% from three this season.
The Army Black Knights will look to bounce back after their frustrating loss to Boston last time out. Lonnie Grayson leads the Black Knights in scoring with 13.6 PPG along with 5.4 RPG and Josh Caldwell has 12.1 PPG with 4.7 RPG as well as 2.3 steals per game this season. Alex King has 11.3 PPG to make up Army’s group of double-digit scorers for this matchup while Nick Finke has a team-high 6.4 RPG as well for the Black Knights this season. As a team, Army is averaging 72.3 PPG on 45.5% shooting from the field, 34% from 3-point range and 62.2% from the foul line while allowing 70.2 PPG on 53.6% shooting from the field and 34.6% from three this season.
Boston is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 road games and 7-15 ATS in their last 22 games overall while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 Sunday games. Army is 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games as a favorite while the under is 5-2 in their last 7 games following a loss. The road team is 4-0 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
This is definitely a game I struggled with, but Boston’s defensive efforts have left a lot to be desired at times this year and while the offenses aren’t far apart, the difference in those defensive efforts give Army a slight edge here. Also, we’ve noticed from trends this season that it’s hard to beat and cover your opponent in both legs of the back-to-back and I think that’s the lesson that the Terriers might learn here so I’ll lay the points with Army here.
