The Arizona Wildcats and the Oregon Ducks meet Monday in college basketball action from Matthew Knight Arena.
Arizona enters this one at 17-8 on the year. The Wildcats have won three straight, most recently over Washington. As for Oregon, they’re sitting at 16-5 this year. Arizona started out the year on a solid 9-1 run, but then lost consecutive games to USC and UCLA. The Wildcats hit a 3-1 stretch after that, then backtracked with a 1-4 run. Since then Arizona has beaten USC, Washington State and Washington in their last trio.
In the 75-74 win over Washington on Saturday, Arizona’s James Akinjo led the team with 26 points, seven assists and three boards. Azuolas Tubelis had 16 points and 15 rebounds, and Bennedict Mathurin had 10 points with 13 rebounds.
Over on the the Ducks’ side, they’ve managed to stay consistent this year and have only lost consecutive games once. Oregon is 7-1 in their last eight games, beating Washington, Arizona State, Arizona, Colorado, Utah, Stanford and California in that time.
In the 74-63 win over California on Saturday, Oregon’s Eugene Omoruyi led the way on 21 points with three rebounds and one assist. LJ Figueroa had 20 points with 14 boards, and Chris Duarte had 17 points with three rebounds.
Oregon is 1-4 ATS in their last five home games and 2-6 ATS in their last eight Monday games. The Ducks are 25-12 in their last 37 after an ATS win and the under is 5-2 in their last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Wildcats are 11-1 ATS in their last 12 Monday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss. The under is 8-3 in Arizona’s last 11 overall and the over is 5-2 in their last seven road games.
PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Arizona here. The Wildcats have been scoring pretty well over their last three games, with 69 or more in each outing. The last time these teams met up was a 63-61 Oregon win, and Arizona kept up the whole way despite getting out-shot 45.5 percent to 38.6 percent during the game. This will probably be another great matchup, and I like the Wildcats to bang out a cover.
