The Southeast Missouri State Redhawks and the Morehead State Eagles meet Thursday in college basketball action from Ellis Johnson Arena.

Southeast Missouri State enters this one at 4-8 so far. The Redhawks are 1-2 in their last three games and coming off a win over Tennessee State. As for Morehead State, they’re sitting at 9-6 this season. The Eagles are riding a five-game winning streak, culminating in a win over Southeast Missouri State on Saturday. The Redhawks opened the season at 2-1 with wins over UMKC and Lipscomb, but then went on a five-game losing streak versus the Bisons, Evansville, TN_Martin, Indiana State and Tennessee Tech. Since then it’s been a 2-2 run for Southeast Missouri State with a pair of wins over Tennessee State.

In Tuesday’s 63-59 win over the Tigers, the Redhawks’ Chris Harris posted 17 points with five rebounds and three assists. DQ Nicholas added 11 points with seven rebounds and two assists, and Manny Patterson put up 10 points with six rebounds and 15 assists.

Over on the Morehead State side, they started out the season at just 1-4 with only a win over Arkansas State. The Eagles rattled off three straight wins after that, then fell to Eastern Kentucky, SIUE and Clemson. Since then it’s been five straight wins, including Saturday’s victory over SEMO.

In the 64-50 win versus the Redhawks, Morehead State’s James Baker put up 14 points with six rebounds to lead the team. Skyelar Potter and De’Von Cooper contributed 11 points apiece, combining for seven rebounds and four assists as well.

The Eagles are 7-15 ATS in their last 22 Thursday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games. Morehead State is 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall and the under is 5-0 in their last five home games.

Meanwhile, the Redhawks are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games and 5-0 ATS in their last five Thursday games. Southeast Missouri State is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall and the under is 7-1 in their last eight games overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Morehead State. The last time these teams met up on Saturday, things were tight in the first half at 31-31. The Eagles put their foot down after the break however, outscoring the Redhawks 33-19 the rest of the way. Morehead State had four players in double-figure points in that one, and had a nice well-rounded group of statistical contributors off the bench. I like another good effort from the Eagles here in a cover.
