Notre Dame vs North Carolina State College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/3/21

The NC State Wolfpack and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Joyce Center. 

NC State enters this one at 12-9 so far. The Wolfpack have won four straight, most recently over Pittsburgh. As for Notre Dame, they’re 9-13 on the year. NC State started off the season on a pretty nice 6-1 clip through their first seven games. The Wolfpack hit a 2-8 skid after that, but have since recovered with four straight wins. Those victories came versus Pitt, Wake Forest, Virginia and Pittsburgh again. 

In the 65-62 win over the Panthers on Sunday, NC State’s Jericole Hellems put up 15 points with 10 rebounds and five assists. Derek Funderburk added 13 points with three boards, and Braxton Beverly had 14 points with two rebounds and one assist. 

Over on the Notre Dame side, they got off to a rocky start at 3-8, but then smoothed things out in January and February. The Irish hit a 6-2 stretch early last month, but since have lost three straight. The losses came courtesy of Syracuse, Louisville and Boston College.
In the 94-90 loss to Boston College, Notre Dame’s Prentiss Hubb put up 28 points with seven assists and five rebounds. Trey Wertz added 17 points with two assists, and Dane Goodwin posted 13 points with six boards. 

The Irish are 0-5 ATS in their last five Wednesday games and 2-5 ATS in their last seven versus a team with a winning straight-up record. The under is 7-3 in Notre Dame’s last 10 overall and 4-1 in their last five home games. 

Meanwhile, the Wolfpack are 5-0 ATS in their last five road games and 9-3-1 ATS in the last 13 Wednesday games. NC State is 1-6 ATS in their last seven as a favorite and the over is 28-10 in their last 38 road games. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with NC State. You could probably make a good case either way in this one however; it should be a good matchup. The Wolfpack have been playing solid defense over this win streak, allowing 62 or fewer points in each of their last three games. Notre Dame finally got their offense going against Boston College, but couldn’t keep up on the other side. I like this game to be close initially with NC State ultimately pulling away.
