Sam Houston State vs Texas A&M-Corpus Christi College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/3/21

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders and the Sam Houston State Bearkats meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Johnson Coliseum. 

Texas A&M-CC comes in here at 4-18 so far. The Islanders have dropped three straight and are coming off a loss to Lamar. As for Sam Houston, they’re 18-7 this year. Texas A&M-CC won their first game this season, but then took six straight losses before getting another pair of victories. Since then the Islanders have just one win (over Lamar) and they’ve dropped their last three to SE Louisiana, New Orleans and Lamar. 

In the 66-47 loss to Lamar on Monday, Texas A&M-CC’s Simeon Fryer led the team in scoring with nine points, seven rebounds and one assist. Lado Laku also notched nine points with two rebounds in 10 minutes of action in that one.
Over on the Sam Houston side, their year began a little rocky at 3-5. Since then however, the Bearkats have hit a 15-2 run. Over the last three games, Sam Houston has a loss to Abilene Christian in between wins over Lamar and Houston Baptist. 

In the 83-70 win over the Huskies on Monday, Sam Houston’s Demarkus Lampley put up 19 points with five boards and two assists. Donte Powers added 13 points with four rebounds and two assists, and Tristan Ikpe put up 12 points with seven boards. 

Sam Houston is 5-2 ATS in their last seven Wednesday games and 6-0 ATS in the last six home games. The Bearkats are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 overall and the under is 8-2 in their last 10 home games. 

Meanwhile, the Islanders are 1-5 ATS in their last six road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. The over is 9-4 in Texas A&M-CC’s last 13 road games and 5-2 in their last seven overall. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with Sam Houston State in this one. The Bearkats ave been on a great run for most of the year, topping 70 points with regularity in some nice offensive outings. The last time these teams met up was a 75-70 win for Sam Houston, and both teams played fairly well offensively. I like Sam Houston to pull away on a cover in the second half here.
