Seton Hall vs UConn College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/3/21

The UConn Huskies and the Seton Hall Pirates meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Prudential Center. 

UConn enters this matchup at 12-6 so far. The Huskies are 4-1 in their last five games and coming off a win over Marquette. As for Seton Hall, they’re 13-10 this year. UConn began their year on a nice 7-1 run, but then hit a 1-4 stretch with losses to St. John’s, Creighton, Seton Hall and Providence. The Huskies are 4-1 since then, beating Xavier, Providence, Georgetown and Marquette in that stretch. 

In the 80-62 win over Marquette on Saturday, UConn’s James Bouknight led the team with 24 points, two rebounds and one assist. RJ Cole added 21 points with three rebounds and three assists, and Tyler Polley chipped in nine points. 

Over on the Seton Hall side, they got off to a rocky start this year initially, but ultimately clawed their way to a 9-5 mark. After three straight losses, the Pirates got their rhythm back with four straight wins. Since then however, it’s been losses to Georgetown and Butler. 

In the 61-52 loss to Butler on Wednesday, Seton Hall’s Jared Rhoden managed 14 points with four rebounds to lead the way. Sandro Mamukelashvili added 11 points with four rebounds and one assist, and Shavar Reynolds had nine points, six assists and five boards. 

Seton Hall is 0-5 ATS in their last five home games and 0-4 ATS in their last four overall. The Pirates are 48-23 ATS in their last 71 as an underdog and 1-4 ATS in their last five Wednesday games. 

Meanwhile, the Huskies are 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine road games and 8-2-1 ATS in their last 11 after an ATS win. UConn is 5-1 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 overall. 

PICK: I’m going to stick with UConn here. Seton Hall had a great game the last time these teams played each other, notching an 80-73 victory. The Pirates had the edge in most categories, from shooting percentage (50.0 to 47.9) to rebounds (28-23) and team assists (11-9). UConn fell behind 38-29 at the break and couldn’t keep up from there. The Huskies have been playing well lately so I think it’ll be a different story in the rematch.
